Jess and Sarah's intimate wedding at Sassafraz Yorkville was a beautifully tender and effortlessly laid-back affair. They cherished the idea of capturing lovely wedding photos as a keepsake of the day's emotions while also reveling in an intimate evening with their nearest and dearest. We made wedding portraits in the Yorkville area, conveniently located near the restaurant wedding venue Sassafraz and ensured to capture some classic family portraits. The rest of the evening was dedicated to Jess, Sarah, their families, and close friends who came together for a private dinner celebration.
What truly warmed my heart was witnessing how Jess and Sarah shaped their wedding day into a personal affair that perfectly suited them. From their attire to the way how the day was to be captured and remembered, Jess and Sarah kept things simple and true to heart.
Jess and Sarah reached out to me in April, planning their summer wedding for August of the same year. While many Toronto wedding photographers prefer booking their schedules a year in advance, I reserve some of my summer weekends for these intimate, more spontaneously planned celebrations. It was a wonderful twist of fate that brought Jess and Sarah my way, thanks to a recommendation from a friend who had met me years ago at another wedding I had the privilege of photographing. I'm genuinely thankful for those who, at times mere acquaintances or Instagram followers, remember me and recommend me when the right moment arrives. It's how I've had the privilege of connecting with so many incredible couples and families.
Capturing Jess and Sarah's portraits on the lively streets of Yorkville was an absolute delight. Their joy and love radiated through every frame, making the experience truly unforgettable. Their choice of a white dress and a white jumpsuit perfectly complemented the urban backdrop, adding an elegant and modern touch. For their outdoor portraits, they even decided to forgo holding their beautiful bouquets, which added an extra element of effortless style to their resulting wedding photos. Kudos to their friend and florist, Isabel at Floret, who did an exceptional job with their bouquets and floral decor.
The undeniable highlight of this intimate wedding was Jess and Sarah's profoundly emotional wedding ceremony. Their expressions and feelings were so palpable that words alone can't do justice to the emotions that filled the air. I'll let the pictures do the talking.
My sincerest hope is that these photographs, created together, will serve as a timeless reminder for Jess and Sarah of the emotions they shared on this special day.
Love,
Ally
