Marilyn and Michele had their small backyard wedding ceremony and reception with their immediate family in their home in Kleinburg Ontario. The intimate home wedding was informal and relaxed. DIY floral decoration showcased the couples’ sense of style and added formality to the occasion. The ceremony was short and sweet. Marilyn’s little nephew and niece were the ring bearers. After a small and short-lived meltdown (and lots of laughers), the rings were successfully delivered. Parents and siblings witnessed the couple’s marriage. The day was truly an intimate event personalized by each guest at the wedding. Marilyn’s dad made all the wood work for this home wedding – the wedding arch, benches at the ceremony and the wood dining table for the reception. Michele was a chef. His buddy, a gourmet home chef was there to serve freshly prepared 5-course meal to the small party. Marilyn’s brother in law surprised the party with some unrehearsed games for entertainment. Of course there were the little nephew and niece, who after the wedding ceremony and in absence of their ring bearing responsibility were in much better mood. Marilyn and Michele chose to celebration their union on a nice summer day in early August. I suspected August was the favourite month for many in Ontario with its prolonged summer day light. It was certainly one of the most popular months for weddings in Ontario, big and small. Marilyn and Michele’s summer backyard wedding ceremony was showered with beautiful golden sunshine. The intimate wedding reception followed immediately after was highlighted by a romantic sunset. Marilyn and Michele did not follow a lot of wedding traditions. Many might even call their backyard wedding unconventional. But they did have a small cake cutting ceremony with the deep blue sky and pink clouds in the background because it was also Michele’s birthday. Michele was humble and laidback. He did not want any extra attention. But one could tell from the smile on his face when Marilyn was cutting their wedding slash birthday cake with him that he was full of joy and love. So was Marilyn and in fact every special guest at this intimate home wedding.
Marilyn and Michele, thank you again for having me at this very small wedding ceremony at home and intimate backyard wedding reception of yours. I wished you all the happiness in the world.
Love,
Ally
